Our machine is located upstairs in the fiction area. Copies are available first 5 are free and 10 cents per page after that. The collection includes Lapeer County Papers 1879-current; years 1889, 1902, 1913, and some random dates are missing. Funeral Home Records for Lapeer County Brown Funeral Home 1877-1963, Michigan Federal Census 1900-1920 and census for Lapeer County and surrounding areas 1820-1910. Marguerite Lofft deAngeli is one of the best known and highly regarded author / illustrators in American children's literature. Born in Lapeer, Michigan in 1889, she awarded the Newbery Medal in 1950 for The Door in the Wall, and was among the first to be inducted into the Michigan Women's Hall in of Fame.
The Lapeer District Library has a small collection of items about her life and works that is housed at the Marguerite deAngeli Branch. Items from this collection are on display in the library's meeting room and in various places around the building.
