Lapeer District Library Presents an Informational Program on Autism
Please join Lapeer District Library for a free informational presentation on Autism Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 6:00p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Marguerite deAngeli Branch Library, 921 W Nepessing Street, Lapeer.
According to the National Library of Medicine, Autism is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life, and affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills. Autism is a physical condition linked to abnormal biology and chemistry in the brain. The exact causes of these abnormalities remain unknown; this is a very active area of research.
In this free presentation, Dr. Megan Strauchman, D.O. will present an overview of Autism and the mechanics of the disease. She will also discuss dietary sensitivities, and nutritional considerations.
Dr. Strauchman is the medical director of Natural Wellness and Pain Relief Centers of MI. She practices Functional and Anti-aging Medicine, a form of preventive medicine. She is fellowship trained by the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine. Dr. Strauchman believes that a comprehensive whole body, neurological, and biochemical approach is the key in the treatment of childhood development disorders such as those on the autism spectrum and ADHD. That is why she, along with Dr. Morningstar, is the co-creator of the Factor Integration Model of treatment.
This informational program is the result of Lapeer District Library’s partnership with Rebekah’s Health and Nutrition Source of Lapeer.
